Stepping Hill Hospital, part of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, has recently installed three ACUSON S1000 ultrasound systems from Siemens Healthcare.
Two are for use within obstetrics and gynaecology and the other within the early pregnancy department.
After trialling numerous systems the hospital chose the S1000 due to its greater penetration power and excellent image quality.
The systems are pivotal to the Women’s Unit, with each S1000 being used approximately 20 times per day by up to 16 sonographers. The flexible ultrasound systems are capable of handling a variety of patient types and disciplines and have helped to accommodate a wide range of body types, including difficult-to-image and bariatric patients.
The ACUSON S1000 provides a high-fidelity ultrasound signal while running multiple real-time applications for excellent image quality. Equipped with a suite of transducers that can perform up to 27 different examination types, it is suitable for a range of imaging needs.
As standard, the system includes syngo Auto OB measurements, which reduces keystrokes in routine fetal exams by 75%, giving obstetricians the ability to generate semi-automatic biometric fetal measurements.
“We chose the ACUSON S1000 systems following a review into three different systems. We have used Siemens Healthcare systems before and find the interface easy to use,” said Jonathan Carty, sonographer at Stepping Hill Hospital.
“The feedback from the team has been that the image quality is improving clinical practice.”
