Construction starts on GP surgery scheme

Work has started on a £3m primary care facility in Pembrokeshire.

Contractor, Assura, has moved onto the site of the new Milford Haven Medical Centre, which will provide a base for the Barlow House and Robert Street GP surgeries. It will also provide space for district nursing teams, a pharmacy, and midwifery and health visitor services.

Rob Elliot, assistant director of estates and capital management at Hywel Dda Health Board, said: “This modern purpose-built development is part of our commitment to providing high-quality care closer to home.”

Andrew Darke of Assura added: “It is fantastic to see construction starting on the medical centre, which will provide the community of Milford Haven with modern, state-of-the-art healthcare facilities.”

The centre is scheduled for completion in November 2012. It has been designed by West Hart Partnership and will be built by OPCO.
