Castleoak and Care UK have celebrated the start of work on a new £6m care home in Horsham, West Sussex.

The 82-room development will see the delivery of the 1,000th care home bed by Castleoak for Care UK.

The building has been sensitively designed to provide a high-quality environment for full-time residential care, specialist dementia care, nursing, and short-term respite care.

Speaking at a ceremony to mark the work starting on site, Justin Daley, construction project manager at Care UK, said: “We are delighted that work has begun on our new care home in Horsham.

“This impressive development reflects our commitment to improving the provision of residential care for people living in the area.”

Castleoak chief executive, Craig Currie, added: “This landmark project will mark the 1,000th care bed we will have delivered for Care UK. Over the course of our 17 developments for Care UK, we have established a collaborative approach to delivering projects that we know works well. This scheme will be testament to our excellent working relationship and will bring so much to the local area.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while promoting independence, the new state-of-the-art care home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. Each individual bedroom will have an en-suite bathroom, together with a flat-screen television, adjustable-profile bed, and 24-hour nurse call system. State-of-the-art facilities for residents will include a cinema, hairdressing salon and café. Attractive and wheelchair-friendly landscaped gardens will also give residents the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of spending time outdoors.
