MedicX begins work on £4m GP surgery and pharmacy

Work is underway on £4m medical centre and pharmacy in Nottingham.

When complete The Arnold Health Centre will provide improved access to healthcare services via a new state-of-the-art primary care medical centre and an integrated pharmacy in the heart of Arnold.

The new two-storey building is being developed by MedicX and is expected to be completed in September 2013. Its design incorporates photovoltaic panels and the overall building will be constructed to BREEAM ‘very good’ standard, with an ‘excellent’ rating for energy use.

Once complete, the facility will house the nearby Highcroft Surgery of Dr Gard & Partners and a number of community clinics as part of a venture between the surgery and Gedling Borough Council, NHS Nottinghamshire County and County Health Partnerships.

Nigel Pashley, regional director of MedicX, said: “We are delighted to be developing this medical centre for NHS Nottinghamshire County and the Highcroft Surgery. We recognise the huge benefits the new healthcare facilities will bring to the local area and are now focused on maintaining the momentum to open the new medical centre and to welcoming the first patients next year.”

This is a provision that local people desperately need and it’s great to see construction beginning.
