Works set to improve Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt

Published: 9-May-2011

Shropshire Council has awarded planning permission for the new main entrance and car park at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic and District Hospital. The development is now underway and is due for completion in spring 2012. Director of operations, David James, said: "We are delighted that Shropshire Council has given its go-ahead for the new development. Patients will find their way around more easily and it will be an altogether better experience for patients. As part of our application, we have followed all the guidance regarding wildlife on the site and will be constructing additional bat and bird boxes. We are also working with the Shropshire Council travel officer regarding green travel plans, particularly for staff." The plans aim to improve privacy and dignity by separating the majority of outpatients from inpatients and will also boost onsite security as well as help maintain infection control standards. The building work is being led by Capita Symonds.
