Deployment of Ascribe patient administration system latest step in bid for paperless services

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has chosen to upgrade its current patient administration system (PAS) to Ascribe’s CaMIS as part of efforts to create a complete electronic record system (EPS).

The EPR functionality will be delivered using the Ascribe Health Application Platform (HAP) for interoperability. This gives the trust access to all of the clinical modules needed to deliver a full EPR and clinical portal.

The system provides access to all the functionality required by hospitals and the interoperability to allow the trust to work with third party solutions. This includes pharmacy systems and cross-departmental functionality such as e-Prescribing, decision support, order communications, document management and care pathways.

The solution is in addition to existing Ascribe systems already used in the emergency department and endoscopy suite and technology for medical hardware tracking.

James Rawlinson, associate director of IT services at the trust, said: “We expect the new licensing model will provide further value to the trust and provide our staff with a more integrated and sophisticated way of accessing patient records. With the system, staff will be able to access key information quicker which, most importantly, means more time spent caring for our patients and could ultimately help to speed up treatment.”
