e-Rostering deployed at Calderstones

Calderstones NHS Foundation Trust has procured an e-Rostering, time and attendance and bank management system from SMART. The solution will go live to more than 800 members of staff in clinical areas next month, followed by a rollout to non-clinical staff including HR, clinical nurse managers and Ssenior management. Don Terry, project manager at Calderstones, said: "More effective management of staffing resources will improve service delivery and ensure individuals receive appropriate and timely care, treatment and support. We have 12 ward areas which include 350 members of staff being paid via the electronic system. Managers from these areas can already see a reduction in payroll errors and queries. This enables the release of management hours spent on administration, all of which will lead to longer-term financial savings." Tristan Spencer, health market director at SMART, added: "Staff costs are the biggest expense for a health trust and effective management of resources is vital to ensure the right mix of skills and staff is in place to provide optimum patient care."
