edsi supplies complete doorset and ironmongery package for new mental health facility

The mental health service in Guernsey was originally delivered from a number of different locations throughout the island.

“However, as services changed a degree of flexibility was required to meet demand.

The new Oberlands Centre, situated alongside the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, has relocated all mental health services on the island under one roof, with improved residential and outpatient facilities to benefit new and existing patients.

The new centre includes two wards; a 10-bed bed adult ward and a 16-bed acute ward. The bedroom wings are divided by a service core, allowing the separation of male and female patients, which can be further subdivided to allow for additional flexibility when required.

Among the suppliers to the project was European Doorsets (edsi), which was responsible for the complete doorset and ironmongery package.

Established in 1990, European Doorsets is a privately-owned company specialising in the bespoke manufacture of fully-certified performance timber doorsets to both the commercial and public sectors within the UK construction industry.

Based in the North West of England, all doorsets are manufactured in house using the latest state-of-the-art CNC machinery, providing European Doorsets with total control and allowing a complete package to be tailored to individual needs.

The majority of the doorsets were specified as anti-ligature, with an anti-barricade system and full-length hinges.

Edsi was supply only on the Princes Elizabeth Hospital project, although all doorsets were supplied fully serviced with ironmongery fitted.

The extensive package from EDSI included in excess of 300-plus doorsets, supplied with a variety of finishes including PVC post-formed sets.
