Firefighters have responded to reports of a chemical incident at Guy's Hospital in London.

The incident at the major London hospital took place from 8:49 on Thursday and was resolved by 11:09.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) have stated that the incident is believed to have been caused by the mixing of chemicals inside a plant room, which produced a chlorine gas.

In a hospital, a plant room is usually a secured area that houses things like the heating and cooling systems (boilers, AHUs, etc), as well as water pumps, electrical systems, and medical gas systems.

Only one person (a staff member) was injured as a result of a chemical reaction. However, several people who came to the aid of the person, have been treated for the inhalation of chlorine gas.
