Construction begins on new MRI facility at Andover War Memorial Hospital

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has initiated the build of the new imaging suite to expand diagnostic capacity at the Andover Community Diagnostic Centre

Construction is now underway on a new MRI building at Andover War Memorial Hospital, marking a significant step in expanding diagnostic imaging capabilities for the local community.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recently celebrated the start of the build with a groundbreaking event at the hospital site, joined by project contractors and supporters. 

The development forms part of the Andover Community Diagnostic Centre, which is being enhanced to improve both access to diagnostic services and the overall patient experience.

The new purpose-built facility will house a state-of-the-art MRI scanner, complementing the site’s existing CT imaging capabilities. 

It will also feature a modern reception area and upgraded clinical spaces.

Construction is set to continue throughout the summer, with the facility scheduled to open later in the year.

Alex Whitfield, CEO at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This valuable new addition to our Andover Community Diagnostic Centre will make a real difference to so many of our patients, improving access to diagnostic imaging and offering an even greater patient experience using the latest technology.
