The construction expert has topped out on the all-electric facility that will expand diagnostic and treatment services for cancer, renal conditions, and imaging

Bouygues UK has reached a key milestone at West Middlesex University Hospital with the topping out of the new £80m Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre (ADC).

The ceremony, held on 2nd July, marked the completion of the main structure of the project, which is set to transform diagnostic and treatment services for the local community.

It follows the announcement in June that Bouygues UK was appointed on this project. Construction of the Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre is due for completion in 2026.

The new ADC will provide expanded diagnostic and treatment facilities for cancer, renal conditions, and imaging, benefitting residents across Hounslow, Richmond, and Ealing.

Designed as an all-electric, sustainable building, the centre is expected to play a key role in addressing health inequalities by improving local access to essential services and reducing waiting times.

The project will double the capacity for both renal and cancer services at the hospital. The number of chemotherapy chairs will increase from 10 to 18, enabling approximately 3,000 additional cancer treatments over the next decade.

Dialysis provision will also see a significant boost, with the number of chairs rising from 12 to 24. In addition to its clinical services, the ADC will feature a new, state-of-the-art education and training centre.

This facility will support the Trust’s ongoing commitment to staff development and recruitment, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services into the future.

The project is backed by CW+, the Trust’s charity, which is raising £1.5 million to help enhance the environment of the new centre.

CW+ is providing expertise on patient experience, design, and commissioning bespoke artwork for the building.

Bouygues UK is also working to maximise the social value of the project through partnerships with MITSkills, the London Borough of Hounslow, and JCP Hounslow.

These collaborations aim to support local skills development and create employment opportunities throughout the project’s duration.

Bouygues UK Managing Director Rob Bradley said: “The scheme will be transformative for local communities in and around Hounslow, not only by providing enhanced healthcare services but by creating opportunities for education, training and employment. It’s wonderful to be here today to mark the great progress being made.”

Chief Executive of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Lesley Watts, added: “This is a major milestone in our plans to deliver the largest and most ambitious estate expansion programme in our Trust’s history.

“The new ADC will help address health inequalities by doubling capacity for renal and cancer services, bringing diagnostic services closer to patients, and ensuring local people receive the care and treatment they need sooner.”
