Brierley Park Medical Centre offers fit-for-purpose environment for GP and community services

A £2.9m health centre has opened in Huthwaite, bringing much-needed improvements and new services for patients in Sutton in Ashfield.

The long-awaited Brierley Park Medical Centre has replaced inadequate surgery rooms and temporary buildings in New Street, together with purpose-built new premises in Sutton Road. Doctors at the surgery were instrumental in attracting funding for the centre, which is owned by primary care investor, Assura Group, and was developed by LSP Developments.

The medical centre provides the full range of primary care services, with a dedicated treatment room as well as a minor operations suite, enabling staff to expand services for contraception, teenage health and minor surgery.

The practice also has a large meeting room for healthcare related education and a dedicated patient information area where patients can check their own body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure. In addition, there is a light and fun children’s area with wall-mounted play panels, table and chairs and books. The centre also has ample parking and facilities for people with disabilities.

Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, said: “We are extremely pleased to see the completion of the Brierley Park Medical Centre, whose state-of-the-art facilities look set to revitalise patient care across Sutton. The practice definitely meets the needs of the GPs and patients in the area, and are we looking forward to continuing our work within Sutton as the landlord on the scheme.”

Phil Lilley, development manager at LSP Developments, added: “The Huthwaite project has been a great development to work on. Working alongside partners of the practice we have ensured that the finished result is bespoke, fit-for-purpose and carries the service from the medical centre into the 21st Century.”
