Extension completed at Norfolk care home
Facility provides residential accommodation for the elderly and people with dementia
A 12-bedroom extension has officially opened at a Norfolk residential and nursing care home, providing accommodation for the elderly and people with dementia.
Healthcare Homes has unveiled an £800,000 investment at Shipdham Manor, enabling the home to accommodate a total of 42 residents. In addition to the extension – now known as Applegarth - a refurbishment programme has also been completed within the main building to include the extension of the communal dining hall, a new modern entrance area, refreshed decoration and new external landscaping. The work was managed by East Anglian-based Horizon Construction.
David Bates, chief operating officer at Healthcare Homes, said: “We recognised a growing demand for additional elderly and dementia residential care in the local vicinity and felt this modern extension would meet the needs of the community. Shipdham Manor already has an excellent reputation for providing first-class care, so we had no hesitation in investing in this highly-regarded home.”
Nurse, Nikki Shaw, manager of the facility, added: “Shipdham Manor is very much at the heart of Shipdham’s vibrant village life. The extension enables us to accommodate a further 12 residents, which is fabulous as there is a high demand for high-quality residential care in the area and we are happy to welcome new residents into our home-from-home.”
