Former DH private secretary appointed MedeAnalytics' chief executive

Anthony McKeever to head up UK health business

MedeAnalytics has announced today Anthony (Mac) McKeever has been appointed chief executive of MedeAnalytics International based in London.

McKeever will spearhead the company’s continued growth, promoting the Clinical Commissioner and FT Navigator solutions to the UK healthcare market.

McKeever started his career at the Department of Health, where he progressed to become secretary to the NHS Management Board and private secretary to Sir Len Peach, the first chief executive of the NHS.

After 12 years in the civil service, he left to take up a board job at Mersey Regional Health Authority, where he later served as district general manager in Crewe.

In 1993, he joined the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where he spent several years as the trust’s chief executive before taking over as chief executive of Warwickshire at the end of 1998, where he established the health authority in its new strategic commissioning role.

In August 2000, he left the NHS to set up his own consultancy business. Early assignments included a leadership development programme for consultant nurses, waiting list reviews for various NHS organisations, and several projects with pharmaceutical companies.

Most recently, he was the chief executive of Bexley Care Trust ,where he helped GPs transform local performance, establishing Bexley as a leading clinical commissioning pathfinder whose achievements were recognised in three prestigious Health Service Journal awards, including the Secretary of State’s Award for excellence in healthcare management.

“I am pleased to join MedeAnalytics at this exciting time and to have the opportunity to leverage their solutions to support health reform and help drive performance improvement in the UK healthcare market,” he said. “As more and varied data become available within healthcare, it will be critical to have solutions that provide operational insight to drive clinical and financial performance.”

“Mac brings a wealth of experience as an executive with a track record of delivering results in the NHS, and his leadership will help both our clients and company achieve their respective objectives,” added David Watson, chief operating officer of MedeAnalytics.

McKeever was last year appointed to the NHS Future Forum, which conducted a listening exercise on behalf of the Government and produced two reports on aspects of the proposed healthcare reforms.
