Managers of Breightmet Health Centre in Bolton have reached financial close on an internal building reconfiguration which aims to maximise clinical space on the ground floor.
The work will see the development of three new consultation rooms to support the local need for more podiatry and physiotherapy services within the 6,200sq m, three-storey building.
This work will cost around £560,000 and is being commissioned by Community Health Partnerships, supported by Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group and the One Partnership.
The ground floor of the building is currently underutilised due to the current layout.
Making the proposed changes will lead to increased utilisation, better use of the health centre, and it provide more value for money for our customers.
With work expected to finish later this year, the partnership with One Partnership and Eric Wright Group will bring physiotherapy and podiatry services closer to home.
The building is also the base for Bolton’s eating disorder services alongside the Alastair Ross Medical Practice and it includes a library.
Converting the underutilised space will add approximately 173sq m to the ground floor and the new consultation and examination rooms, at 16sq m, will accommodate double-sided access couches, clinical sinks, and extra storage cupboards.
Alongside these rooms, the other podiatry rooms will be approximately 23sq m with a specialist podiatry chair.
And service delivery will be supported by an increased dedicated waiting area.
Work on site is due to begin in July and last approximately 10 weeks.
The works will be project managed by Eric Wright Building Consultancy and built by Eric Wright Construction.
