Improvements to cycle routes in Shrewsbury

Published: 11-May-2011

Staff and visitors are being encouraged to cycle to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital following improvements to local cycle routes. A new toucan crossing has been installed in Mytton Oak Road by Cycle Shrewsbury, with a contribution from Cala Homes, and will benefit residents, people travelling to the hospital, and pupils travelling to Meole Brace and Priory schools from the Gains Park area. John Ellis-Tipton, the trust's estates manager with responsibility for environment and risk, said: "Cycling is a healthy and convenient way to travel and we are happy to support people who are able to get to hospital this way. We are very pleased to have been able to work with Cycle Shrewsbury to put in secure, convenient cycle parking around the hospital site and to set up a bicycle user group so that staff can tell us what further improvements they would like to see."
