Combining HTM compliance with ease of installation and ongoing maintenance, Maxwood’s Maxwall HTM self-contained duct panelling system has been specified for new patient washrooms at Leicester’s Bradgate Mental Health Unit and Bennion Centre on the Glenfield Hospital site.
Maxwood manufactured around 180 units and complementary cubicles from its Marin range for the hospital’s new acute ward and two existing wards.
Designed by Maxwood specifically for the healthcare sector, Maxwall HTM complies with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM68) for ducts and sanitary panel assemblies in health buildings.
The self-contained system makes running of pipework and mounting of sanitaryware quick, easy and secure.
Maxwall HTM units for the Bradgate Unit and Bennion Centre were made to measure by Maxwood using Solid Grade Laminate panels for optimum strength and durability. The factory-assembled modular frames were delivered to site ready for installation within stud-wall cavities.
Units were specified for the project with hinged panels, enabling quick access to service ducts for cleaning and maintenance, a major benefit in healthcare facilities, where high standards of hygiene management are critical.
Project architect, Chris Roberts of London-based David Morley Architects, said: “Maxwood’s comprehensive range of colours provided the opportunity to explore the therapeutic effects of colour to enhance the healing environment. Laminated panels are the primary means of introducing colour into the washroom space. At the Bradgate Unit and Bennion Centre, colour schemes were chosen to suit the patient category of the respective ward.
“Rather than opting for pastel shades as seen in many healthcare facilities, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust made some bold choices, including a stimulating combination of brown and lime green and soothing neutral wood effects.”
Maxwall HTM was specified for the new hospital washrooms with Maxwood’s Marin cubicle system, incorporating Solid Grade Laminate panels for high impact and water resistance. Matching good looks with impressive performance, Marin offers smart and durable toilet cubicles for demanding applications such as healthcare environments. The system’s polished and profiled edges are combined with anti-vandal through-bolted fixings. Cubicles are manufactured as standard to an overall height of 1960mm including foot and head rail.
