Single-storey facility unveiled at Marlborough House medium secure unit

Stepnell has successfully completed a project for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust to build a new reception for the Marlborough House medium secure unit at the Milton Keynes General Hospital site in Buckinghamshire.

The Wantage-based team began work on the project in January after the contract was awarded following Stepnell’s appointment to the trust’s approved contractor list.

The Stepnell team has created a single-storey reception building providing a separate entrance to the unit. The facility provides services to patients with mental health issues who require assessment and/or treatment in secure conditions.

The new steel-framed, cedar-clad building will house reception facilities including an office, search room, waiting room, accessible toilet and lobby area and will incorporate high-security doors and windows. Stepnell also carried out electrical and mechanical refurbishment work, new access ramps and security fencing.

The works were time-critical with a fixed end date. Stepnell worked collaboratively with its specialist subcontractors to ensure the deadline was achieved.

Stepnell contracts manager, Jamie White, said: “We’re delighted to have completed our first project following our appointment as an approved contractor by the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. The company has wide-ranging experience in the health sector and a strong record of working closely with clients to deliver high-quality healthcare facilities. We are extremely pleased to have brought that expertise to this important project.”
