Work begins on £7.5m care home in the Midlands

Wildgoose Construction embarks on fifth project for Restful Homes Group

Wildgoose Construction has won its highest value contract to date - a £7.52m deal to build a new care home in the Midlands.

The firm is due to start work on the project, in Erdington Road, Aldridge, Walsall, next month.

An existing building will be demolished to make way for the care home and work is scheduled to be completed in 56 weeks.

This will be Wildgoose’s fifth project for the Restful Homes Group based in Surrey, having completed care homes in Lichfield, Stratford, Cannock and Birmingham.

Dementia care will be on offer at the new home, which will feature 71 bedrooms. The building will have domed roof lights and a rooftop garden, which will include bowling and putting greens.

The architects for the project is Robothams.

Tim Walker, managing director of Wildgoose Construction, said: “These new care homes incorporate some state-of-the-art concepts in the world of elderly living and have been designed to ensure that the residents enjoy the day-to-day activities and living accommodation provided by the group.
