Matrix Medical celebrates start of work on Ashby Health Centre

The doctors of Ashby Health Centre celebrated the start of construction work on their new medical centre this week with a sod-cutting ceremony.

Delivered by Matrix Medical, the new integrated primary care centre will provide a number of important primary services to the local community, including general practice and a pharmacy. The new building, scheduled to be completed in January 2016, will serve over 14,500 patients, who will over time be able to access a wider range of services locally than they are currently able to do.

Sue Barker, practice manager, said: “We are really pleased and excited that work is finally starting on our new building. After many years of waiting, we are looking forward to having a modern building where we can continue to provide the high standards of service our patients expect. It will be a pleasure to work in such a bright and spacious building and I’m sure patients will enjoy the experience too.”

Head of primary care at NHS England, Di Pegg, added: “NHS England is delighted to be supporting and working with our partners to deliver this project, which will ensure that people of Ashby will have access to this brand new facility. Our aim is to ensure that all patients are able to access high-quality healthcare now and in the future ,which will help them to live longer and healthier lives.”

The development is being funded by Assura, supported by NHS England, and constructed by Wildgoose.
