Wildgoose Construction prepares to hand over Ashgate Medical Practice

Wildgoose Construction has announced completion of a new medical centre in Chesterfield.

Ashgate Medical Practice will serve 13,500 patients in a purpose-built facility on the site of the former Manor College building.

Work on the development started in autumn 2012 and saw the existing Avondale Road Surgery close and patients transfer to the new practice, which will consist of eight partners, four salaried GPs and a range of clinical, administration and reception staff.

Commissioned by PCT Healthcare, the surgery will include Ashgate Medical Practice; Peak Pharmacy; Little Acorns Day Nursery; CommuniKate Café; Derbyshire Health United, which is an out-of-hours doctors service; and a national 111 call centre.

Tim Walker, managing director of Wildgoose Construction, said: “Patients who are served by this practice will now be able to access a state-of-the-art centre which offers the very best in modern healthcare services.

“We are especially pleased to have worked successfully with the client’s professional team, which has designed a building which is not only fit for purpose, but will also be enjoyed and admired by all that use it.”
