GLASGOW Royal Infirmary is the first hospital in the UK to install a new anti-bacterial cable management solution for power and data distribution. The hospital has installed MK Electric's Prestige 3D Antibac Blue system in its intensive care unit. Installed by contractor, WMQ, around 55m of trunking has been used as part of a refurbishment programme led by BAM Construction. The solution is designed to kill bacteria that can grow on surfaces through the use of a silver-based additive inside the PVC-u. In independent tests, it was found to kill 99.9% of MRSA and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
