Lees Medical Practice - a new visionary and highly-sustainable 800sq m medical centre - has opened in Lees, Oldham.
The centre is the latest investment by United Healthcare Developments (UHD) and was commissioned by NHS Property Services, Greater Manchester.
The building is been pre-assessed as achieving a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating as well as receiving an impressive EPC ‘A’ Rating of 12.
It utilises a series of innovative and sustainable solutions, which ensure a comfortable environment for patients and employees throughout the year without the need for air conditioning or traditional fossil-fuelled heating systems.
The medical centre is designed and orientated to ensure maximum benefit from the 50kW solar panel array installed on the roof. This generates a significant proportion of the building’s power requirements and reduces the CO² emissions.
The GP’s were fully engaged in the design process from the outset and the resulting building is practical, warm and welcoming, with secure staff areas and ample patient parking.
Lees Medical Practice is designed and built with the GPs long-term requirements in mind. It offers considerable flexibility as the NHS evolves, with 100sq m of expansion space incorporated into the scheme, together with a Rowlands Pharmacy.
