Furniture sales manager to boost NHS market

James Spencer & Co takes on Andrew Carter to lead public sector sales

Healthcare furniture equipment manufacturer, James Spencer & Co, has appointed Andrew Carter as its new sales manager.

Andrew began his career as an insolvency assistant and bad debt manager, but moved into manufacturing when he was appointed credit control manager at the former Wilkinsons Furniture in Pontefract, later joining the sales team, dealing primarily with the public sector.

He moved to Birmingham to take over as northern public sector sales manager with office furniture manufacturer, Roc, where he helped boost sales before moving to Ness Furniture in Durham, where he ran sales teams pitching to the NHS.

At James Spencer & Co, he is initially focusing on sales of specialist furniture and equipment ranges, among them challenging environment and bariatric products, along with enhancing the firm’s tendering process, an area he has specialised in for the past eight years.

“I am also concentrating on improving lines of communication with current and potential customers, both face to face and through monthly newsletters and flyers detailing special offers,” he said.

James Spencer’s chairman, Richard Spencer, said of the appointment: “Andrew’s wealth of previous experience in the financial, legal, furniture and healthcare sectors are qualities that make him a natural leader of the sales team,as we seek to strengthen our national footprint in both current and evolving markets.”
