Hospital installs Ysio Max digital radiography system from Siemens Healthcare

Haywood Hospital, part of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership NHS Trust, has become the first in the UK to benefit from an Ysio Max digital radiography system from Siemens Healthcare.

The hospital chose the system due to its light and manoeuvrable MAX detector, which is allowing flexibility and promoting ease of use. This is particularly benefitting patients with restricted mobility, giving them a more comfortable experience.

As a specialist rheumatology hospital and walk-in centre, Haywood Hospital is predominantly using the Ysio Max for plain film radiography and rheumatology. The technology is also being used for research purposes including new drug trials. A second Ysio Max is also now installed in one of the regions other sites, County Hospital, Stafford.

Haywood‘s experienced team is responsible for imaging around 100 patients a day and the digital radiography technology is allowing clinicians to produce excellent-quality images and has gained great feedback from the team. Staff have commented on the system’s ease-of-use and excellent applications training.

“We are very excited to be the first to install the new Ysio Max system,” said Julia Matheson, modality team leader at Haywood Hospital.

“We are dedicated to providing the latest technology for patients, ensuring that innovative medical research can continue to take place. As a busy hospital, it is essential that we have confidence in the systems we use to produce timely and accurate results. The Ysio Max provides this confidence and has met all of our expectations to date.”

Ysio Max utilises advanced imaging technology of Multiple Advances in X-ray (MAX) detectors, which maximise performance and ensure flexibility and workflow. The MAX wi-D detector is Siemens’ lightest wireless detector with a handle (3 Kg), which is designed to help improve access to patients for radiographers. The system’s high weight capacity table and excellent patient coverage allows a range of patients to be examined from head to toe without repositioning.
