LPP medical and surgical team expansion continues

Procurement partnership builds clinical involvement with appointment of Chris Hassall

Chris Hassall has joined NHS London Procurement Partnership (LPP) as a senior category manager in the medical, surgical and supply chain team.

Hassall has spent the past few years as a medical and surgical category specialist with the Healthcare Purchasing Consortium (HPC) and, more recently, HealthTrust Europe (THE), managing various areas including procedure packs, orthopaedics and cardiology. He also has private sector experience, having had procurement, planning and logistical roles in food manufacturing.

LPP has been expanding its medical, surgical and supply chain team to meet NHS trusts’ urgent need to get better and increased engagement between procurement teams and clinicians in order to achieve greater savings from clinical procurement.

Team lead, Marc Osborne, said: “Chris is a welcome addition to our customer-focussed collaborative procurement team at LPP. He brings some great skills and experience as well as his category knowledge he has a good understanding of the culture of the NHS.

“We are working to build clinical involvement in procurement, and Chris is highly experienced in engaging successfully with consultants and nursing staff. Our expanding med surg team aims to create good, strong working relationships at all levels in the trusts we work with, and Chris is no stranger to that.”

Hassall adds: “I moved to LPP for a fresh challenge in an organisation that can offer me the opportunity to develop my career and be more involved in the overall development of the organisation.

“I value the ability to contribute to the development of LPP – LPP’s reputation as a pro-active, professional team dedicated to improving procurement and getting results for its NHS trust members is well earned. I’m looking forward to supporting the growth of its impact in the medical and surgical category.”
