The construction company Bauvill has provided an update on the strip out and reconfiguration of the community health project

Bauvill has progressed its community health hub conversion project in Medway.

The construction company is transforming 40,000 sqft of space at Pentagon Shopping Centre in Kent into a modern health hub.

The project includes the strip out and reconfiguration of the first floor at the Pentagon Shopping Centre, to become the new Healthy Living Centre in the heart of Chatham.

The reconfiguration will deliver 270 new rooms, bringing together two GP practices, a dedicated pharmacy and a range of NHS community services under one roof.

Bauvill is working with Medway Council, Black Cat Building Consultancy and Ellandi on this project.

As of September 2025, the build has been divided into four phases, each moving steadily towards completion:

  • Phase 1 - Suspended ceilings installed, floor coverings underway and second fix progressing
  • Phase 2 - Floor preparation works ongoing with second fix progressing
  • Phase 3 - Second fix electrical works and mist coat decoration underway
  • Phase 4 - First fix completed with tape and jointing close to completion

“As a Medway-based contractor, we are proud to be delivering this project for our local community,” the company stated.

In the last year, Bauvill has also been involved with various refurbishment and build projects for Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup, St George's Hospital in London and Bexhill Hospital.
