A planning application has been submitted to restore and adapt the former Duke Street Hospital into affordable homes.
“Our direct appointment has enabled us to bring real added value … to drive efficiencies while carefully realising our shared conservation ambitions,” said David Wylie, Managing Director of CCG (Scotland).
Under the proposals, delivered by CCG (Scotland) in partnership with Loretto Housing Association, part of the Wheatley Group, and designed by MAST Architects, the hospital building will be converted into 19 high‑quality, affordable flats.
The Category-B listed building dates back to 1904, and Duke Street Hospital has sat vacant since 2016. The redevelopment of the site will preserve the heritage of the original building.
The site involves substantial work, including reconstruction of a distinctive oriel window.
The affordable homes that will be delivered will meet the “Housing for Varying Needs,” standards, meaning they’re designed to be inclusive, adaptable and accessible to all occupants at different stages of life.
“We’re delighted … to return this iconic building to the community … bringing much‑needed affordable homes to Glasgow’s East End,” said Lindsay Lauder, Director of Development and Regeneration at Wheatley Group.
