The independent provider of NHS-funded surgical procedures has received planning approval to begin construction on an £8–9m surgical hub

One Health Group, an independent provider of NHS-funded surgical procedures, has secured final environmental pre-commencement planning sign-off for its first surgical hub in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, with construction scheduled to start imminently.

"This development reinforces our strategy to introduce surgical capacity in regions where there is no NHS or independent provider provision, and NHS patient demand is high,” said Adam Binns, CEO at One Health Group.

The company said the project remains on track for delivery within a one-year construction period and within the previously stated £8–9m budget.

Life Property Construction has been appointed to deliver the surgical hub on the 1.78 acre site, marking the start of the company’s expansion into dedicated community-based surgical facilities.

“We’re delighted to be working with One Health Group on the development of their first Surgical HUB and we are looking forward to starting on site soon,” said the company in a statement.

The new facility is expected to provide significant additional surgical operating capacity, supporting local NHS services by freeing up hospital capacity and helping to reduce waiting lists.

The surgical hub aligns with government initiatives to expand care in the community through geographically separate, community-based surgical hubs

One Health Group highlighted the potential for the Scunthorpe hub to enhance both the Group’s revenue and profitability once operational.
