AE Superlab designs exterior enclosure for iN by Inspiren patient care assistant device

The design characteristics of today’s smartphones are continuing to influence electronic gadgets and medical product development.

A case in point is designer, AE Superlab, which has revealed an exterior enclosure for iN by Inspiren, a cognitive patient care assistant device, with simple geometric shapes, rounded corners, clean lines and strong colour contrasts.

iN by Inspiren, engineered by 10xBETA, showcases a look and feel more akin to a fixture found inside a high-end hotel room.

The device fits on the wall of a hospital room and contains infrared sensors that monitor patient-caregiver interaction.

Starting with the shape of a perfect circle, AE Superlab designed the exterior encasement, which is wrapped in a clear polycarbonate second skin.

They then ensured that illumination is the primary way that iN communicates to its users via both colour and intensity.

The primary lightsource is tucked away in a recessed cove along the periphery of the device, allowing it to gently wash over an exposed glow-plate.

The glow-plate surface is textured with a subtly-raised pattern that is designed to capture and bounce the light from the peripheral linear light source, providing additional visual interest to the front of the device.
