The Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) and the NextGen Healthcare Network have formed a new partnership to support skills development across the NHS estates sector.
Backed by Turner & Townsend, with support from WSP and McLaughlin & Harvey, the initiative will connect early-career professionals with senior industry figures.
IHEEM is the UK professional body for healthcare engineering and estates management, supporting standards, training and professional development across the sector.
The NextGen Healthcare Network is a 400-strong forum for young professionals in healthcare construction, development and estate management.
They provide seminars, workshops and informal networking opportunities.
The Network delivers more than 30 events each year across London, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.
These events bring together professionals to share knowledge, build skills and develop solutions to the growing challenges facing NHS estates and healthcare infrastructure.
They also focus on closing skills gaps and improving collaboration across the sector.
IHEEM Chief Executive, Pete Sellars, said the new partnership would help strengthen links between experienced professionals and new entrants to the sector.
“It is imperative we protect the longevity of our healthcare estate and continue to drive excellence in patient care,” said Sellars.
NextGen Healthcare Network lead Josephine Neill said the partnership would help the sector respond to workforce and infrastructure challenges.
Turner & Townsend and its partners will continue to support the network as part of wider efforts to build capability across the UK healthcare built environment.
