The Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has opened the £3m modular Rosewarne Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has officially opened the modular Rosewarne Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, its first new hospital ward in more than two decades.

“The modular units we can have in the NHS now are really, really good…To all intents and purposes, they are a really lovely environment without the bricks around the outside,” said Sue Greenwood, Matron of Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The modular building for the new Rosewarne Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital was designed, supplied and installed by Premier Modular.

It was provided as a turnkey solution to quickly deliver the interim stroke ward while essential repair works were carried out on the existing Lanyon Ward.

Premier Modular fast-tracked the project by coordinating with stakeholders to complete the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design in just four days, a process that normally takes four weeks, to meet urgent patient space requirements.

The Trust received £3m in government funding for the modular facility to support uninterrupted patient care during construction.

The unit includes therapy assessment rooms, a dedicated gym, patient dining areas, and improved clinical spaces.

The formal opening on December 10 was attended by local dignitaries, including Trust Chair Margaret Schwarz and Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall.

The Rosewarne Unit has already supported over 200 patients.

It forms part of a broader development at Camborne Redruth, which also includes a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).

CDCs are a wider NHS effort to bring services closer to communities by offering convenient, one-stop diagnostics and reducing pressure on hospitals.
