Fit-out specialist appointed to Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust contractor framework for building, mechanical and engineering works

Leeds-based fit-out specialist, Morris & Spottiswood, is targeting health sector growth after landing an NHS framework agreement.

The business has been formally approved to join Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust's contractor framework for building, mechanical and engineering works.

Morris & Spottiswood’s North of England managing director, Jon Dunwell, said the deal, which kicked in on 1 May, will provide a three-year window to tender for contracts on NHS sites across Leeds.

The firm is already poised to deliver projects on sites including St James’s University Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary, Chapel Allerton Hospital, Seacroft Hospital, and at Moor Road Pharmacy.

“This is a significant step forward for our North of England operation as we look to develop our footprint in the health sector,” he said.

“The Leeds NHS framework agreement provides the entry point to compete for a broad range of projects including demolitions, construction, installation, removals and refurbishment work. The framework approval is a statement of credibility and an endorsement of the calibre of our services. It also critically enables us to competitively chase down contracts up to the value of £2m.

“Inclusion on the framework does not automatically guarantee work. However, we believe this agreement will be a strong growth generator over the next three years due to our sharp competitive edge.

“Morris & Spottiswood benefits from a long-standing brand and a unique range of services. We offer both fit-out and M&E services under one roof. This enables us to save customers time and money. Large emphasis is placed on customer service and satisfaction, while our project delivery is fixed on making savings for our clients.”

Morris & Spottiswood delivers projects in four key areas including fit-out, housing, mechanical and electrical (M&E), and maintenance.

Dunwell said: “Morris & Spottiswood is well suited to the structure and format of framework agreements. We are a large organisation with more than 400 employees, so we have capacity to work with speed and efficiency. We are also developing a solid network of subcontractors across the North of England. It is fundamental to our business model to build teams of local people who serve their local areas.

“Framework agreements also provide a terrific opportunity to show the consistency of our work over a long period of time, and the benefits of using locally-focused people supported by the expertise and resource of a large national enterprise.

“The more framework agreements we can join in this sector, the greater the scope to drive sustained growth.”
