Tilbury Douglas has been officially chosen as the lead contractor on the £100m Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit project at Dorset County Hospital.
The company is a UK-based building, infrastructure, engineering, and fit-out business that has been a part of many healthcare builds.
Programme Director at Dorset County Hospital, Tristan Chapman, said: “This is an exciting milestone for Dorset County Hospital and means that main construction can begin in the spring once enabling works are complete.
“When the building opens in 2027, it will give the Trust much larger, state-of-the-art facilities to treat patients most in need of life saving care.”
The project has been funded by the Labour Government’s New Hospital Programme and procured through the ProCure22 framework.

It is anticipated that the main build will begin in the spring, once enabling works are complete.
Once open in 2027, the new facilities will give the Trust much larger, state-of-the-art facilities to treat patients most in need of life saving care.
Furthermore, the project will include:

Purpose-built spaces for both major and minor injuries and conditions

A dedicated emergency paediatrics area
