Client: West Dunbartonshire Council CHCP - procured through Hub West Scotland.
Value: £10.5million.
The Crosslet Care Home project is a new-build facility designed to provide 84 residential bedrooms grouped in domestically-scaled seven-bed clusters and daycare facilities for 50 people, all with associated access, parking and, more importantly, external amenity and landscaping.
The selected site at Crosslet offers a fantastic green space within which to set a caring environment.
The design and form of the building has been carefully shaped to fit the forward-looking elderly and dementia care concepts developed by the client West Dunbartonshire CHCP; in close consultation with Stirling University, the Care Inspectorate and other key experts, and so represents an exemplar project designed to offer a non-institutional care environment internally that capitalises on its excellent environment externally.
A key feature of the design was to assist in caring for residents suffering from dementia.
Utilising colour recognition and identifiable spaces; the design sets out a logical system to assist residents in moving around and using the building.
From the external facade treatments to the wall finishes ,through paint and wall cladding and the soft furnishings; each house fits into a series of four principle colours.
