Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust signs contract with System C in bid to become paperless

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has selected System C to supply and implement its Electronic Patient Record (EPR), Medway.

The trust plans to deploy the Medway PAS, A&E, IE, business intelligence and clinical documentation software next year, replacing its existing PAS and A&E, McKesson’s TotalCare in a first step towards development of an EPR.

Paul Richards, managing director of health and social care at McKesson, said: “McKesson continues to work hard to support the NHS as it looks to take advantage of the benefits that electronic care records can offer. System C’s long-term partnership with the NHS means it truly understands how information technology can best play its part in achieving higher quality, better value care for the UK population. We are therefore delighted to be working with Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust to enable its own success in this critical area.”

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of only four dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK and provides integrated healthcare for children and young people, including community and mental health care as well as acute and specialist services for children.

Isabel Hemmings, chief operating officer at the trust, said: "We are delighted to have reached this stage and be progressing on the implementation of the first phase of the EPR with System C. It's been a very successful project so far and we're looking forward to working with Medway and System C."
