Health service to work with IMS MAXIMS to deliver joined-up patient records

IMS MAXIMS has signed a 15-year contract with the States of Guernsey’s Health & Social Care Committee (HSC) to provide an Electronic Patient Record System (EPR) for acute hospital and mental health services as part of its ‘My eHealth Record’ transformation plan.

The multi-million-pound investment was approved by Guernsey’s government in 2020 and is both a necessity to replace and update key software and to accelerate the way digital health records are managed and utilised.

The deal will futureproof the Bailiwick’s healthcare model to cope with a changing demographic and continued fiscal pressures, helping to keep everyone healthier longer, while also providing access to the right care at the right time when islanders need it.

Deputy Aidan Matthews, HSC committee member and lead for transformation, said: “The My eHealth record programme is laying the foundations of a paperless system joining together HSC, MSG, and other health and care providers, across the Bailiwick.

The signing of the contract for the delivery of MAXIMS EPR is the start of a 15-year partnership between the States of Guernsey and IMS MAXIMS to support the transformation of healthcare across the Bailiwick

“Delivering this change to our core software is a major undertaking and will require the support of all our stakeholders and will take two to three years of work by our teams to complete.”

Jacinta Ni Suaird, chief product and delivery officer at IMS MAXIMS, added: “The signing of the contract for the delivery of MAXIMS EPR is the start of a 15-year partnership between the States of Guernsey and IMS MAXIMS to support the transformation of healthcare across the Bailiwick.

“The solution, once implemented, will support integrated and improved patient health and social care for the people served by the HSC.”

HSC’s current EPR is provided through a single system known as TRAKCare 2012 which has served the organisation since 2012 and will be gradually decommissioned through the changes being introduced through the My eHealth Record programme.

The full system will be installed and in full use across HSC by mid-2024.
