Construction work has begun on a new NHS medical centre to replace Langwith Medical Centre in Derbyshire.
Stepnell and Brackley Investments will carry out the work on the facility, which is run by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust.
The development, set for completion in September, will replace the existing medical centre building with a state-of-the-art facility providing significantly more space and allowing patients access to a wider range of services.
Designed by Thomas Wilson Architects; the single-storey brick building now taking shape will be four times larger than the current medical centre, which is situated to the west of the new development, and will provide specialist accommodation for health visitors, district and community nurses and therapists.
William Jones, chief operating officer for Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are delighted to see work progressing so well on this new health centre and we look forward to being able to move patient care into the brand-new building later this year.
“We have outgrown the current premises on Main Street and they are outdated for the level of services we want to provide to patients.
“This new building will ensure we are providing the very-best facilities for patients in Langwith.”
