Engineering consultancy WSP has acquired UK building services specialist Hulley & Kirkwood.
The acquisition, announced on 29 September, brings approximately 122 employees across seven UK offices into WSP.
Founded in Glasgow in 1953, Hulley & Kirkwood provides mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) engineering consultancy services across healthcare, education, defence, commercial and government projects.
Its healthcare portfolio includes the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, the National Treatment Centre in Inverness and facilities at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital.
The consultancy has also worked on the New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow and the Blossom Court mental health unit at St Ann’s Hospital in London.
The acquisition combines Hulley & Kirkwood’s building services expertise with WSP’s wider engineering and consultancy capabilities.
“Completing the acquisition of Hulley & Kirkwood is an important step in strengthening our building services expertise in the UK,” said Paul Reilly, President and Managing Director for the UK and Ireland at WSP.
Hulley & Kirkwood’s services cover building systems design from feasibility and scheme development through detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
Its wider specialisms include medical gas services, sustainability and energy performance, building physics simulation and strategic facilities management.
The companies said integration would take place through a structured programme intended to maintain continuity for clients while creating opportunities for collaboration and growth.
