Case study: Queen Elizabeth Hospital

DSSR was entrusted by Vinci Facilities to provide MEP designs for a new CT department, achieved through a one-storey extension, and to support the modernisation plans for the main hospital's MRI facilities

The project encompassed a comprehensive installation of various components, such as medical gases, data, fire alarm, telephone, heating, two digital skylights, and rooftop plant equipment. Additionally, we oversaw the development of new facilities, including cannulation rooms, a CT scanner, entrance area, waiting room, prep room, drug store, control room, and lift. The project also involved installing a temporary mobile MRI scanner and walkway, followed by the commissioning of a new MRI unit.

The project was executed within the operational hospital environment. We also implemented effective noise control measures and actively engaged with clinicians through weekly meetings, customising the project to meet their specific requirements and minimising disruption to key facilities.

This thoughtful approach allowed for a seamless integration of the upgrades, ultimately enhancing patient care and diagnostic capabilities while maintaining efficient hospital operations.

This project forms a crucial component of the continuous development and redevelopment efforts for the hospital’s CT & MRI department.
