The new centre will deliver over 70,000 diagnostic tests and outpatient appointments a year.

Building work will start in early February with the centre, located adjacent to Yeovil District Hospital, set to open in winter 2024.

Prime offers a lot of healthcare services from master planning to delivery.

Over the next nine months, we’ll be utilising modern methods of construction to deliver this much-needed building at pace

Will Bilbrough, Technical Development Director for Prime, said: “As the Trust’s strategic estates partner, Prime is thrilled to reach this significant milestone in the creation of a facility which will improve lives through state-of-the-art diagnostic services."

Bilbrough explained that this is the latest in several joint projects which have "transformed experiences of health care" in east Somerset.

Open seven days a week, the new centre will provide radiology, endoscopy, cardiology and audiology diagnostic tests and outpatient appointments

“We have spent many months planning the services that the NHS and InHealth will provide within the centre, and designing the building, so it will be a very big moment when the builders start work onsite next week, preparing the ground ahead of the building the centre,” said David Craig, Programme Director for the Community Diagnostic Centre Programme.

The modern state-of-the-art, stand-alone centre will benefit patients in Somerset and North West Dorset who will receive quicker diagnostic tests thanks to the additional capacity the centre will provide.
