Actiform completes £17.8m Bridgwater CDC in partnership with Ergéa UK

The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust has opened a community diagnostic centre in Bridgwater, expected to deliver almost 25,000 extra scans a year

The Bridgwater CDC was officially opened on 18 August following the completion of the facility that is located alongside Bridgwater Community Hospital.

Developed by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, the centre forms part of the national community diagnostic centre programme and was funded through a £17.8m investment from NHS England.

The facility will provide MRI and CT services and will also house Somerset’s first dedicated urology investigation unit.

The centre is expected to deliver almost 25,000 additional diagnostic scans each year, helping patients access tests closer to home while releasing capacity at the county’s acute hospitals.

The project was delivered through Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s managed service partnership with Ergéa UK.

Actiform was responsible for the development of the facility using modern methods of construction.

The development also builds on Somerset’s wider community diagnostic centre programme, which began with the opening of a centre in Taunton in 2021.

One such project, a diagnostic centre, opened in Yeovil earlier this year.

Project partners for the Yeovil CDC:

  • Contractor - Darwin Group
  • Specialist health and care property developer - Prime
  • Funder- M&G
  • Employer’s agent - Ridge
  • Radiology and endoscopy service provider InHealth

Later in 2026, the Bridgwater facility is due to open a dedicated urology investigations unit, bringing outpatient appointments, tests and procedures together in a purpose-designed environment.

“Since 2017, Ergéa UK and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust have worked together to modernise diagnostic services across the county,” said Mark Graves, CEO at Ergéa UK.

“This project demonstrates what can be achieved when modern methods of construction are combined with strong collaboration and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare facilities,” said Stefan Dransfield, Managing Director at Actiform.
