UK-based software provider System C has launched its new AI Assistant. The AI Assistant is a new tool designed to aid with clinical documentation and patient care.
The new tool is available as part of CareFlow EPR and leverages a secure and compliant Microsoft-hosted version of the ChatGPT large language model (LLM).
The AI Assistant can interpret transcripts and content from clinicians, integrates EPR-specific configuration information, and generates structured draft documentation, including handovers, patient-identified referrals between hospital teams, and patient-identified tasks.

CareFlow EPR is built purely with the NHS in mind and facilitates clinical and patient safety throughout.
System C’s approach to AI adoption ensures that clinicians are required to review and accept the AI-assisted generated content, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
North Bristol NHS Trust is currently running a Proof of Value trial with the CareFlow AI Assistant, across the emergency and the stroke department.
The trial aims to:
- Reduce the time required to generate SBAR handovers, team referrals, and patient-identified tasks
- Improve the quality and consistency of documentation
- Enhance patient flow efficiency by initiating actions like tasks and referrals earlier
- Improve clinician experience by allowing them to work more quickly and freely

Robinson explained that early feedback from clinicians has been positive. “[This suggests] that the AI Assistant has helped to streamline the SBAR process and saved time when making referrals to other teams.
