Sir Robert McAlpine Special Projects has delivered Maggie’s Northampton, a cancer support centre at Northampton General Hospital in the East Midlands.

“We are honoured to have brought Maggie’s vision to life and delivered another centre providing invaluable support to people living with cancer, and their family and friends,” said Mike Coleman, Special Projects Operations Director at Sir Robert McAlpine.

The Special Projects team, which handles complex heritage and conversation projects, held an opening ceremony last month to unveil the Diana Russell Building.

The building was named to honour the legacy of Diana Russell whose £2.4m donation made the centre possible

“For the centre to be named after her is something which makes me feel incredibly proud, and it is wonderful to know that this beautiful building will now be here to support thousands of people living with cancer from across the region for many years to come,” said David Russell, the son of Diana Russell, during the opening ceremony.

Designed by Stephen Marshall, the building features a cantilevered roof.

Its serene gardens, crafted by internationally renowned designer Arne Maynard, and interiors by Tricia Guild OBE, create a space that is as inspiring as it is supportive.

Maggie’s Northampton marks the fifth centre delivered by Sir Robert McAlpine since 2018, reflecting a long-standing partnership with Maggie’s charity.

Since 2016, the company has raised over £1m for the charity and is working to fund more than 100,000 hours of support for people living with cancer.
