Bupa, an international healthcare company, has announced plans to acquire King Edward VII’s Hospital.
“We will be delighted to welcome King Edward VII’s Hospital into Bupa, as the third hospital within our network as we expand our secondary care footprint within London,” said Sarah Melia, General Manager of Bupa Health Services.
The independent hospital is located on Harley Street in central London, and the acquisition is set to be completed by the end of this year.
With 56 beds, three operating theatres and a cutting-edge outpatient and diagnostics centre opened in 2022, the hospital specialises in musculoskeletal health, women’s health, urology, and digestive health, along with a wide range of complementary services including ophthalmology and dermatology.
In addition to the acquisition of King Edward VII Hospital, Bupa also acquired New Victoria Hospital in August. The company also acquired London Medical, which is a specialist outpatient clinic also located on Harley Street.
Together with Cromwell Hospital, the three leading hospital institutions will form a hub of specialist care for Bupa customers in London, offering access to consultation, diagnosis, and treatment within a unified network of trusted Bupa medical sites.
“Both King Edward VII’s and Bupa are well recognised brands, synonymous with high quality care. By creating greater access to speciality care, we aspire to attract more patients and experts to the hospital,” said Jeremy Butler, CEO at King Edward VII’s Hospital. “Patients will see no change to the high-quality care they are used to at King Edward VII’s Hospital and all appointments and treatment will go ahead as planned.”
For over 125 years, King Edward VII’s Hospital has stood for exceptional clinical care and personal attention. Its charitable origins will continue to shape its future, with the King Edward VII’s Hospital charity now focusing fully on supporting the health and wellbeing of veterans and their families.
For patients, continuity remains at the heart of the transition. All appointments and treatments will continue as planned, with no change to the high standards of care or the trusted teams delivering it.
The three hospitals acquired by Bupa will create a new benchmark for patient-centred care in London.
