MHRA to close Assistive Technology Centre
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has announced the closure of its Assistive Technology Centre at Blackpool. The decision to close the facility and transfer its work to the agency's London offices was taken to maximise its public health impact in the face of a reduction in funding, and to improve the use of resources by centralising the work of the devices division. An MHRA spokesman said: "The agency is committed to continuing the investigation of adverse incidents involving assistive technology products and a phased transition of the work from Blackpool to London is planned over the next few months, with a completion date of 19 October."
