Clark-Drain launches D400 version aimed at projects where a single or double seal is essential to meet building regulations for controlling unwanted odours

Drainage product and access cover leader, Clark-Drain, has launched CD D600H-DSL, a ductile iron ‘sealed and locking’ solid top cover for BS EN 124 D400 loading requirements.

Clark-Drain believes the introduction of the product will provide a better, more-cost-effective solution in areas where foul drains can provide a public health issue.

Fash Shahidi, key account manager, said: “Sealing plates have been historically used where odour control is part of the building regulations. However, these products eliminate the need for a sealing plate because it is designed with a double seal incorporated into the cover and frame.”

When installed, the seal consists of a double ridge projecting down from the cover all the way around its edge into a corresponding groove on the frame, which Clark-Drain recommends is grease-filled, providing an inexpensive alternative.

The CD D600H-DSL with a 600mm x 600mm clear opening is recommended for heavy-duty traffic.

Other features include security locking bolts, which are standard on the CD D600H-DSL; integral lifting keyholes, enabling the cover to be removed for easy utility access; and a cover and frame design engineered to provide excellent seating and minimise the load on the bedding material.
