Reinsberg Group expands operating table offering with Schaerer Medical acquisition

Acquisition strengthens expertise in orthopedics and spinal surgery and establishes a direct presence in Switzerland

Reinsberg Group continues its growth with the acquisition of Swiss company Schaerer Medical Schweiz AG, a long-established manufacturer of premium mobile operating tables and specialized orthopedic accessories. The addition of Schaerer Medical Schweiz AG will strengthen the Group’s operating table offering, bring further specialized expertise in orthopedics and spinal surgery, and, at the same time, establish a direct presence for the Reinsberg Group in the Swiss market.

Schaerer Medical Schweiz AG was founded in 1892 and is one of Switzerland’s long-established medical technology manufacturers. The company has been developing and manufacturing operating tables since 1912 and has built strong technical expertise in this field for more than a century. It is headquartered in Münsingen close to Bern, where its in-house development and manufacturing operations are based. Today, the company is present in more than 75 countries through an international network of sales and service partners.

“Schaerer Medical represents exactly the type of company we want to add to the Reinsberg Group portfolio. It is an established European manufacturer with in-house development capabilities, strong know-how and a long-standing track record. Its product portfolio complements our existing operating room offering very well, while also giving us a direct presence in the Swiss market. The acquisition therefore represents another important step in building a strong European medical technology group with international reach,” says Jan Izák, Chairman of the Board of Reinsberg Group.

Schaerer Medical Schweiz AG’s product portfolio complements Reinsberg Group’s existing offering particularly well with specialized mobile operating tables for orthopedics and spinal surgery. The company has extensive experience in these fields and provides solutions for demanding surgical procedures that combine high load capacities, a wide range of positioning options, and specialized extensions and accessories. The design of selected tables also facilitates easier access to the patient and supports the effective use of imaging technologies during surgery.

“Schaerer Medical will significantly strengthen our capabilities in the operating room segment, particularly in orthopedics and spinal surgery, where the company has extensive experience in specialized operating tables and patient positioning. For Reinsberg Group, this means adding another technologically advanced component of operating room equipment to our offering, while also bringing in a company with a strong service infrastructure and an extensive international network of sales and service partners. We see significant growth potential in combining these capabilities with Reinsberg Group’s commercial platform,” says Dr. Markus Keussen, CEO of Reinsberg Group.

Reinsberg Group already offers a broad range of technologies and equipment for operating rooms – from operating tables and surgical lights to modular operating room infrastructure and ceiling-mounted systems, as well as solutions for operating room integration and healthcare IT. Schaerer Medical Schweiz AG will further expand this offering, particularly in the field of mobile operating tables for orthopedics and spinal surgery. Its strong service capabilities and extensive international network of sales and service partners also play an important role, further strengthening Reinsberg Group’s commercial reach across international markets.

“Joining the Reinsberg Group marks an important milestone in Schaerer Medical’s long history. We are proud of our Swiss heritage and of the expertise we have built over more than a century, particularly in operating tables for demanding surgical procedures. We see this partnership as an opportunity to build on these strengths, further develop our products and services, and create new opportunities for our customers and employees. We are excited about the future and look forward to contributing our expertise to the continued growth of the Reinsberg Group,” says Reto Sieber, CEO of Schaerer Medical Schweiz AG.

Reinsberg Group currently generates combined annual revenues of more than EUR 150 million, employs over 850 people, and has a distribution network spanning five continents.
