Sisk wins £67.8m contract to deliver Evelina London Children's Cancer Centre

The construction firm has been appointed to build a new children's cancer treatment facility for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, as its UK business returns to profit

Sisk has been appointed as the main contractor for the £67.8m Children's Cancer Centre at Evelina London Children's Hospital, securing the healthcare project for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

The contractor was selected through the ProCure23 framework to deliver the specialist facility, which forms part of the trust's wider plans to transform children's cancer services.

Pre-construction works are underway for builds within Evelina London Children’s Hospital and South Wing of St Thomas’ Hospital.

Full construction is expected to begin later this year and be completed in March 2027.

The new centre will provide purpose-built facilities for children and young people receiving cancer care, bringing together treatment, research and support services within a single building.

The development will include inpatient accommodation, outpatient facilities, imaging services, clinical support areas and dedicated spaces designed with input from patients, families and staff.

Once complete, the centre will expand the trust's capacity to deliver specialist paediatric cancer care while creating an environment designed to support both patients and their families throughout treatment.

Sisk has also been appointed to deliver a £300m Children’s Cancer Centre (CCC) at the renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH) in central London.

At just under 19,000 sqm, the building will move some of its oldest buildings into a cohesive centre spanning four floors.

Construction is expected to be completed for the GOSH Cancer Centre in late 2028.

Sisk’s financial restructuring

The contract award follows a strong financial year for Sisk's UK business.

The company reported turnover of £625m for 2025, up from £592m the previous year, alongside a return to operating profit after completing a strategic restructuring programme.

Sisk said the improvement reflects a greater focus on disciplined project selection, operational efficiency and growth in key sectors including healthcare, life sciences, education and data centres.

Healthcare remains a significant part of the company's UK pipeline, with the GOSH project adding to a portfolio that includes acute hospitals, specialist clinical facilities and research buildings.

“FY2024 was an improved year for us, following a challenging period marked by legacy projects. Over the past 24 months, we’ve strategically secured projects in key sectors we have been targeting, most notably in the commercial and healthcare spaces across central London,” said Steven McGee, CEO of Sisk.
